Winter sports have just ended, and many athletes have made it to districts and state for post season. Our winter sports include basketball (girls and boys), wrestling (girls and boys), gymnastics (girls) and swim and dive (boys).

In basketball, our girls and boys team advanced to the double elimination rounds of the 3A State Championship. Both games had a semi-final game on the line. The girls ended their season placing fourth overall. And our boys’ basketball team ranked fifth in Washington Division 3A rankings.

“It was a great season for both teams. The girls have a really bright future, and the boys are in rebuild mode for the next few years it seems to be,” said junior Nick Norrah.

Bellevue wrestling concluded their 2024-2025 season with four state placers: Ivan Salaverry placed as state champion; Josephine Ives placed as a state finalist, which is a first in Bellevue girls’ wrestling history; Alexander Khait placed fourth place and Carmelo Madden placed eighth. Overall Bellevue finished 16th out of 72 teams.

“I was able to qualify for state and had a great experience wrestling at the Tacoma dome, as well as supporting my teammates, of which we had three placers and one state champion. This post season, I am participating in freestyle wrestling tournaments as well as practicing MMA to achieve my goal of winning the state tournament next year,” said sophomore Shaan Kahlon.

For our girls gymnastics team, three of our six girls qualified for districts, including Maya Krug for floor and vault; Stephany Peixoto for floor, bars, beam and vault; I qualified for floor, bars, beam and vault.

Our boys swim and dive team won the 3A state championship this year. According to an announcement on the Bellevue boys swim Instagram page, Alex Kang, Christian Wong, Bob Frazer and Aidan Kim also take gold in the 200 medley relay.

"I think we can win state again next year,” says sophomore Isaac Yeung.

Congrats to all our athletes who made it to post-season and advanced to Districts or State.
