Kimberly Richardson
Kimberly Richardson has been an English and journalism teacher for the past 23 years, first in her home state of New Jersey and now in Bellevue. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York and a master’s degree in secondary English education from the University in Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She has earned additional post-graduate credits in journalism through the American Society of Newspaper Editors and the University of Texas, Austin.

Kata Cha
Kate Cha is a senior in high school and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of The Barque. She joined the team in her sophomore year as a copy editor and took on the role of Features Editor during her junior year. Outside of journalism, Kate enjoys reading, hiking, and hanging out with friends. She aspires to further her career in journalism in college and beyond.

Pony Pendergast
Pony Pendergast has been in The Barque since her sophomore year, she is a permanent writer who held the following positions: Graphic Designer, Section Editor, and currently Editor in Chief. As Editor in Chief, leadership is crucial which she believes she best expresses through her positivity, decisiveness, and motivation. Writing is a creative outlet for her as it allows her to express her feelings and others while addressing a large audience.

Sydney Tam
Sydney Tam is a senior in high school and the Editor-in-Chief of The Barque. She joined The Barque in her sophomore year and became Focus Editor during her junior year. Outside of The Barque, Sydney has been a competitive dancer for 12 years and was the captain of Girls Swim and Dive. Beyond high school, she is planning on majoring in cognitive science and is excited to continue journalism in the future.

Andrew Van Appledorn
Sports Editor
Andrew Van Appledorn is currently a senior at Bellevue High School and is the Sports Editor. He has been apart of The Barque for 3 years and started as a photographer his sophomore year before becoming a sports editor. Andrew spends most of his time outdoors whether that be on the river fishing, or on the slopes skiing. He has played 3 Varsity spots throughout his High School career, being apart of the golf, football, and baseball team.
Ashley Kwon
Chief Copy Editor
Ashley Kwon is currently a senior at Bellevue High School that is the chief copy editor for The Barque who initially joined in 2022 as a copy editor. She is the captain of the school's swim and water polo team and plans to continue journalism in college, where she plans to study economics.
Brody Ruckhaber
Business Manager
Brody Ruckhaber has been with The Barque for the past three years. Throughout this time, he has held several positions, including staff photographer, sports section manager, and currently, business manager. He enjoys spending time outdoors, is an avid golfer, and has a passion for music.
Evan Hsueh
News Editor
Evan Hsueh is currently a senior at Bellevue High School and enjoys engaging with other students and international perspectives, seeking to develop his horizons as both a journalist and as an individual. He is the news section editor for The Barque, who initially joined in 2023 as a copy editor. He is an avid foodie, enjoys watching films, plays violin, and plans to continue journalism in college, where he plans to study sustainability.
Kate Peterson
A&E Editor
Kate Peterson has been a member of the Barque since her Junior year. She is currently a section editor in the Arts and Entertainment section of the Newspaper. Previously, Kate was a member of the photo team. Kate is very creative and loves to write about and keep up with all of the current happenings and latest events. Kate belongs to a variety of different groups at Bellevue High which gave her the connections to be a good addition to the photo team and connect with peers.
Madelyne Masters
Opinion Editor
Madelyne Masters is a junior and one of the opinion section editors. She joined BARQUE in her sophomore year on graphics team after always having a passion for literature. Outside of BARQUE she enjoys acting, competing in speech and debate, swimming, reading, volunteering, and spending time with her seven chickens.
May Koh
Focus Editor
May Koh is a senior at Bellevue Highschool and the Focus Editor on The Barque. She has been writing for the paper since her Junior year as a member of the Copy Team. Outside of Journalism, May enjoys music, film, spending time with friends, and taking care of her cats. She intends to continue writing in college.
Rowan Gerron
Opinion Editor
Rowan Gerron is in his second year of The Barque. He started out being on The Photography Team and is currently the Opinion Editor. Rowan spends most of his time on the golf course and he loves travelling to unique places with friends and family.
Vaughn Ederer
Media Manager and Editorial Editor
Vaughn Ederer has been a part on the Barque for 2 years. He started in the photography team and was later elected as Editorial and photo team manager. He enjoys playing lacrosse, wake surfing in the summer, and skiing in the winter.
Will O'Hara

Will O’Hara has been in The Barque for 2 years, serving as part of the graphics team and is currently the features editor. He is passionate about soccer, where he plays year-round for club and high school. Will enjoys working out, golfing and wake surfing in his free time.
